The Ruth H. Young Center for Families and Children is committed to delivering and evaluating community-based services for children and families at risk for maltreatment and related problems. Goals: - To prevent child abuse and neglect through community-based, family strengthening outreach services.
- To comprehensively assess the needs and strengths of families who are at risk for child maltreatment.
- To provide intervention for families who are struggling to meet the needs of their children; including in-home support and services.
Community-Based Activities: Family Connections, operating in West Baltimore, helps families meet children’s basic needs and prevent neglect. Services provided by social workers and social work interns help enhance safety and well-being. Grandparent Family Connections, also operating in Baltimore, helps grandparents, who have assumed the role of primary caregivers, meet children’s basic needs and prevent neglect.
