Department of Human Services Adult Services Professional Development
The School of Social Work has partnered with the Maryland Deptartment of Human Services, Office of Adult Services to provide quality training for Adult Service staff members at local departments of social services. The Office of Adult Services protects vulnerable persons, promotes self-sufficiency and works to avoid or delay unnecessary institutional care or other out-of-home placements.
Pre-service training includes 5 sessions offered two times per year, typically once in the spring and once in the fall. All sessions are held at the University of Maryland, School of Social Work in Baltimore. Pre-service equips all new Adult Services staff hires with basic competency content to meet the needs of vulnerable adults. At the end of each session, participants are required to take and pass a competency exam. CEUs will be provided each for day of training.
