| Caroline Long Burry is a clinical social worker and social work educator. She holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Sociology from Furman University, a Master’s Degree in Social Work from the University of Georgia, and a Doctorate in Social Work from the University of South Carolina. Her background includes almost 30 years of professional social work experience in several states, including direct practice, supervision, and administration of child welfare services; classroom instruction in social work; and service on numerous boards and advisory committees. Currently, Dr. Burry is a an associate professor at the University of Maryland School of Social Work, where she also serves as the Principal Investigator for the Maryland Child Welfare Academy. The Maryland Child Welfare Academy includes the Title IV-E Education for Public Child Welfare Program, a partnership with the Maryland Department of Human Resources to prepare Bachelor and Master social work students for social work practice in Maryland’s public child welfare programs, and the Child Welfare Training Program, which provides pre-service and in-service training to Maryland’s public child welfare workers, supervisors, and administrators, as well as foster, kinship, and adoptive families. Dr. Burry is particularly interested in outcome evaluation in child welfare, adoption, prenatal substance exposure, and foster care. |
