| Amy Cohen-Callow, PhD, MSSW is faculty at the University of Maryland School of Social Work with over 20 years of paid and volunteer work in the human services. She holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from Brandeis University, a Master of Science in Social Work with a concentration in administration and aging from Columbia University, and a Doctor of Philosophy in Social Work from the University of Maryland. Her background includes the provision of direct services to the frail and well elderly, as well as the supervision, and administration of volunteer programs. She provides classroom instruction for the Management Administration Community Organizing (MACO) concentration at the University of Maryland teaching Program Management. She also provides outcomes evaluation consultation for human services agencies. Dr. Cohen-Callow’s current research is concentrated on three interrelated areas that include the improved management and administration of nonprofit and public agencies in order to better serve clients, building organizational capacity through the recruitment and retention of child welfare workers, and research on and best practices for engaging older adults as an integral part of the paid and volunteer workforce. Dr. Cohen-Callow was co-investigator for the Maryland state child welfare workforce recruitment; selection and retention study and is currently exploring generational differences and similarities among workers related to these issues. |
