| Gisele Ferretto is a Licensed Certified Social Worker who has worked in the field over 25 years. Gisele graduated from the University of Maryland School of Social Work in 1982. Currently Ms. Ferretto is a Clinical Instructor for both the Title IV-E Education for Public Child Welfare Program and the Child Welfare Academy at the University of Maryland School of Social Work. Her focus is to train BSW and MSW students who will become the future workforce for Maryland’s Child Welfare Programs as well as current child welfare staff throughout Maryland. She also serves each program as a policy specialist of child welfare programs. Prior to coming to the University of Maryland School of Social Work 11 years ago, she served as administrator at the Maryland Department of Human Resources for 11 years. Nine of those years she served DHR as a CPS Policy Specialist and administered various statewide legislative, policy and training initiatives for Child Protective Services. Key policy written and initiatives led by Ms. Ferretto included the following issues: mental injury, fair hearing process, screening of child maltreatment reports, confidentiality, risk assessment, withholding of medically indicated treatment for disabled infants, domestic violence, expungement and maltreatment in out-of-home settings. In addition she served as an administrator at DHR and initiated a Sexual Harassment Prevention Training Program in the Equal Opportunity Office, lead a statewide Leadership Development Program and Cultural Diversity Appreciation Program in DHR’s Staff Development & Training. Additional experiences also include Continuing Child Protective Services Worker at Baltimore City Department of Social Services, Program Coordinator at Parents Anonymous of Maryland, Inc., and a Juvenile Counselor at the Charles Village Learning Center for Juvenile Delinquents. |
