| Gisele Ferretto is a Licensed Certified Social Worker who has worked in the field over 25 years. Gisele graduated from the University of Maryland School of Social Work in 1982.
Currently .Ms. Ferretto is the Assistant Director of the Child Welfare Academy at the University of Maryland School of Social Work. Her goal is to recruit, train and support BSW and MSW students who will become the future workforce for Maryland’s Child Welfare Programs. Prior to her current position she served as administrator at the Maryland Department of Human Resources for 11 years. Nine of those years she served DHR as a CPS Policy Specialist and administered various statewide legislative, policy and training initiatives for Child Protective Services. Key policy written and initiatives led by Ms. Ferretto included the following issues: mental injury, fair hearing process, screening of child maltreatment reports, confidentiality, withholding of medically indicated treatment for disabled infants, domestic violence, expungement and maltreatment in out-of-home settings. In addition she served as an administrator at DHR and initiated a Sexual Harassment Prevention Training Program in the Equal Opportunity Office, lead a statewide Leadership Development Program and Cultural Diversity Appreciation Program in DHR’s Staff Development & Training. Additional experiences also include Continuing Child Protective Services Worker at Baltimore City Department of Social Services, Program Coordinator at Parents Anonymous of Maryland, Inc., and a Juvenile Counselor at the Charles Village Learning Center for Juvenile Delinquents. |
