R. Anna Hayward is Research Specialist at the Ruth H. Young Center for Families and Children. Anna is currently working on development of the Family Informed Trauma Treatment (FITT) Center, a SAMHSA funded collaboration of the University of Maryland’s Schools of Medicine and Social Work, the VA, and the Kennedy Krieger Family Center. The goal of the FITT center is to develop, implement, evaluate, and disseminate trauma informed family-based interventions for underserved urban and military populations. Anna’s social work practice experience includes working with foster youth and adolescent sex offenders, recruiting and training foster parents, administrative program coordination of a childhood bereavement and intra-agency trauma program, and case-management services to homeless mentally ill women. Her previous research experience was with the CUNY Research Foundation where she served as a study coordinator on the SAMHSA funded Women, Co-Occurring Disorders & Trauma Study. Anna earned her BA at New York University (’94), her MSW at Hunter College School of Social Work (’99), and is currently working towards a PhD in social work at the University of Maryland School of Social Work.
