| Ms. Laurie Richardson is currently the coordinator for the Title IV-E Education for Child Welfare Program at UMBC as well as a seminar leader and trainer for the UMB Title IV-E Program. At UMBC, she is involved in the recruitment of IV-E students, in coordination efforts with the graduate school, in monthly seminar leadership, in faculty liaison responsibilities, and in consultation with the UMBC faculty around issues related to the IV-E program. At the graduate school, she is responsible for leading monthly seminars with students in the IV-E program around child welfare related concerns. In collaboration with the UMB Law School, she has developed a two day mini-mester course on Child Welfare and the Court for law and social work students with the final activity being a mock CINA trial in the Law School Moot Court Room. This is a required course for the graduating Title IV-E students. Prior to joining the Title IV-E program, Ms. Richardson was part of the Department of Training at the School of Social Work for sixteen years, first as a trainer, then as the Director of the program. As Director of the training program, she supervised six social work trainers, coordinated and supervised the development and implementation of a statewide training program for child welfare and adult services workers, and served on several statewide committees including the Foster Care Administrative Oversight Committee, the Child Protective Services Advisory committee, and the Committee for Child Welfare and the Law (joint project with the Law school). She also coordinated a computer tracking system for training attendance. |
