Amy Craig-Van Grack, LCSW-C, began her social work career as a licensed foster parent for Prince Georges County.  She received her Masters in Social Work from Catholic University in 1996, where she was a Title IV-E grantee.  Amy worked in intensive home-based family preservation services with at-risk families in Washington, D.C.  She managed Catholic Charities’ Quality Standards division where she developed and implemented evaluation protocols for various social service programs and initiated the agency’s Continuous Quality Improvement and accreditation efforts.  She also directed an Independent Living and Teen Mothers Program for youth who were transitioning out of the District’s foster care system.  Amy was a Program Manager for one of the Healthy Families/Thriving Communities collaboratives where she supervised community-based family support services in Northeast Washington D.C. and initiated development of the City-wide data management system for the collaboratives.

As a teacher and trainer, Amy has presented at local and national conferences on outcome evaluation, working with adolescents, and clinical practice with at-risk families.  She also trains professionals, parents, and children in child sexual abuse prevention.  She has taught social work Practice Evaluation at Catholic University where she is currently working toward her PhD.  Her particular social work interests include clinical practice in urban child welfare, attachment and resilience in adolescents, teen pregnancy and parenting, African-American fatherhood, and addictions recovery.  Amy is currently a faculty field instructor for the University of Maryland School of Social Work Title IV-E Program where she supervises social work students working in foster care and Family Finding at the Prince Georges County Department of Social Services.
