PROJECT NAME:  Atlantic Coast Child Welfare Implementation Center (ACCWIC)

ACCWIC CONFERENCE WEB SITE

ABSTRACT:  This project establishes a Regional Child Welfare Technical Assistance Implementation Center for Administration for Children, Youth, and Families/Children’s Bureau Regions III and IV.  The Center will engage and support State, District of Columbia and Tribal Child Welfare Agencies in Regions III and IV to implement strategies for improving the quality and effectives of services for children, youth, and families leading to increased safety, permanency, and well-being for children.  APPROACH:  Using a Systems of Care framework and applying Child & Family Service Review principles; the Center will employ training/technical assistance methods based on available research and implementation knowledge to coach and facilitate successful individualized implementation projects (IIPs) for systemic and lasting improvements in Child Welfare Agencies.   In collaboration with the Children’s Bureau’s Training and Technical Assistance network, the Implementation Center will convene regional forums for building IIPs; execute plans to support peer-to-peer networking across Child Welfare Agency systems; provide training and technical assistance to coach, mentor, and support the successful implementation of multi-year system change projects; and generate toolkits, resource manuals, and other products to document what works, under what conditions, and in what ways.   A Regional Advisory Board, Implementation Council, national and local consultants, designated implementation managers, and funding for local site coordinators will all contribute to the success of implementation projects. RESULTS: The Center will foster the implementation of innovations that will help States, District of Columbia  and Tribes to achieve their Child Welfare Agency objectives. These projects will be sustained during and after the project periods and the lessons learned from the projects will generate similarly successful projects in peer States, District of Columbia and Tribes, thereby advancing the priorities of the Children’s Bureau to promote greater safety, permanency and well-being for children and families.
