ABSTRACT: The purpose of this project is to provide a descriptive overview of the implementation of alternative dispute resolution (ADR) practice in the state of Maryland and to provide an overview of national best practices and policies for the variety of ADR practices in family law. The goal of this project is to work with the practitioners of ADR programs to define and document the state of ADR practice in Maryland and to use the literature on ADR practice to provide input into the next stage of the research process. The project will enable the Maryland Judiciary, Administrative Office of the Courts to develop an action plan for integrating the findings from this review with the evaluation of ADR activities. The University of Maryland School of Law, a Maryland Judiciary Research Consortium member institution, is a collaborating partner on this project. Input into project activities will also come from an advisory committee of involved stakeholders.
