ABSTRACT: The Truancy Reduction Pilot Program (TRPP) is a court-based truancy reduction model that was initiated in 2004. It operates in four counties (Dorchester, Somerset, Wicomico, and Worcester) of Maryland’s 1st Judicial Circuit. Over the past year, the RYC has conducted an evaluation of the TRPP program including a process evaluation and outcome evaluation. The current project will expand the process and outcome evaluation components to include additional process measures and primary data collection from program participants. Objectives of the process component of the project are to design and implement an evaluation to better understand the experiences of program participants. Objectives of the outcome component include design and implementation of an evaluation that will examine the impact of the program on the target population and assess the effect that the program has on student outcomes from the perspective of the TRPP program participants. As a member of the Maryland Judiciary Research Consortium, the Institute for Government Services and Research at the University of Maryland College Park is a collaborating partner on this project. Input into research activities will also come from a research advisory committee comprised of individuals with content and methodological expertise.
